Bee Brothers Apiary
Redefining our agricultural future one Honey Bee at a time
6 Keys
to Understanding Our Business
1. THE WORLD NEEDS HONEY BEES TO POLLINATE OUR FOOD SUPPLY.
Executive Summary

Bee Brothers Apiary was founded in 2005, initially, as an Internet based business focused on the online sale of honey and beeswax produced in our Apiary. Bee Brothers is a start-up company in its fourth year of operation.
Across the United States and around the world, the honey bee populations are mysteriously vanishing. Honey bee colony losses are not uncommon; however, this sort of disappearance is unprecedented. According to Jeff Pettis, research leader of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Bee Research Laboratory in Beltsville, Md., "While the drop in losses for 2008 is encouraging, losses of this magnitude are economically unsustainable for commercial beekeeping." Honey bee pollination is critical to U.S. agriculture, adding more than $15 billion to the value of American crops each year.
Product/Services
Bee Brothers Apiary is a comprehensive source for all apiary products and services - from honey and pollen to crop pollination and live colony removal.
Bee Brothers Apiary offers on-site colony removal services for honeybee and other flying insects, providing the personal care that the homeowners appreciated and value.
We believe boosting the honey bee's genetic diversity could be part of the solution for securing a future that includes a significant supply. With the anticipated team we expect to put together, we believe we can genetically engineer a disease-resistant honeybee.
We anticipate the highest level of breeding capacity. More than any other global producer - and resources that enable us to add to that total more quickly and cost-effectively than most competitors - we are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the expected growth in demand.
Our company also expects to be the largest transporter of honey bee colonies to our nations agricultural suppliers.
Management also anticipates our company being the largest, most reliable source for Queen bees.
Target Market
Already we have service commitments from over 140 clients and plan to aggressively build our client base through our websites, referrals from exterminators and bee supply stores, social media sites, newspaper, local television and radio and direct mail advertising. The on-site professional care that we provide customers is sure to appeal to any landowner, farmer, researcher or hobbyist throughout the United States.
Goals and Objectives
Capital-efficient business model with recurring revenue.
In the last 30 years, the number of honeybees in the US has been cut in half. The beekeepers say it takes more and more work to keep their bees alive as they battle new problems wrought by pesticide use, destruction of habitat, the stress of trucking them around the country, and epidemic infestations of mites and viruses. Recently, beekeepers have even started importing thousands of bee colonies from Australia every year to replace their dying hives and keep up with the demand for pollination.
We have arrived at a time in history when even the most simple of biological processes is reliant on a global trade network. We expected to supply our nation with Honey Bees born and bred in the United States.
Management
Strong management: We believe that one of the most important factors in the success of a growth company is the quality of its management team. We define a strong management team as one with deep expertise, an experienced track record within the targeted industry, fiscal prudence, entrepreneurial drive, and a history of success.
The management of Bee Brothers Apiary consists of Salvatore Santaniello - CEO. Our staff has extensive experience in the care of Honey Bees. Current employees have worked in the field with honey bees for 10 years. All partners will continue hands-on management roles in the company.
In addition, we expect to assemble a board of advisors to provide management expertise. The advisors will come from academia, financial institutions, engineering, as well as, sales and marketing.
Finances
Based on the size of our market and our defined market area, our estimated sales projections for 2010 are $1,340,000. The base salary for each of the co-owners will be $40,000.
